Jun 29, 2021 · Google ReviewThis monument was absolutely captivating and breathtaking. I appreciate this tribute to what my ancestors experienced. The placement of this monument couldn’t be better considering is right along side the river that was constructed in the Middle Passage Era and thus brought slaves into Savannah. Wow—chilling!
Jun 25, 2024 · Google ReviewThere is absolutely no way to really comprehend the tragedy that slavery was, and the ongoing effects with us today. The monument was the first recognition of that. We did go to other sights and learned much more about this sad history.
Sep 21, 2023 · Google ReviewOne of the most interesting monuments associated with the African-American community (specifically, the Haitian soldiers who fought in the US War for Independence) that I've ever visited.
Mar 5, 2020 · Google ReviewA beautiful monument in which to remember the evils and cruelty of slavery and the indomitable will to survive and fight against injustice. An extremely compelling piece and a very sobering one.
