Entrances from the top and bottom sides of the restaraunt were convenient. We had reservations and arrived a bit early. There was a parlor area where we sat shortly until called. The server was polite and recommended many menu items. I ordered a crabcake and various sides. My lady ordered pecan crusted flounder. We both thought the dishes were good but very bland. Everything had a good taste but I didn't get that "bang" flavor profile that I expected so everything tasted a bit normal. I will add that the server told me a crabcake was about 95% crabmeat, and I agree wholly with his assessment. Other than that the staff was professional and courteous and the restaurant was historic and orderly. There are so many restaurants in Savannah so there wasn't anything out of the norm that would prompt a repeat visit. But if the opportunity presents to visit again I would definitely take a try at other menu items. The menu is plentiful and I'm certain I could find something that stands out.

Wow where do I even start. I came here yesterday at about 2:15 with my father and boyfriend for a late lunch, early dinner and we absolutely enjoyed our meals. Our waitress was beyond amazing and extremely knowledgeable. My father had gotten the blueberry espresso martini to start and said it was perfect and absolutely flavorful. I had inquired about trying their oyster special that was offered and our waitress gathered all details I had asked about the oysters as I was reluctant to try them due to the season but her amazing boss on schedule allowed me to try one to assure the flavor and quality was good. It was absolutely delicious so of course we got a dozen oysters to start, all of which were phenomenal and had a clean taste and not gritty in texture whatsoever. They were perfectly clean and the onion vinaigrette with the lemon was just beyond amazing to pair with the oysters. We had then gotten the shrimp and grits, catfish and grits and the daily special- a steak sandwich which an onion jus and fries and everything was just perfect. The catfish was flakey and moist and the sauce and grits was perfect. My boyfriend’s steak sandwich was melt in your mouth amazing and incredibly well seasoned and he loved the jus so much he was dipping everything in it! The shrimp grits I had ordered was amazing, I can’t even put it into words. It was filling but in all the right ways. All the components in the meal balanced everything out. The crunch from the corn with the tomato over the grits was just amazing, and the smoked sausage with shrimp was just so good. We were full by the end of it but couldn’t say no to an order of the Creme brûlée for dessert. I’m so glad we got it because man that was also just beyond amazing. The flambéed sugar was done perfectly and the soft custard like crème was so delicious, you could see and taste the vanilla bean in it. My boyfriend had said the fresh fruit was so good and perfectly ripe. To say we had the best meal is an understatement. Between the great service and phenomenal meal, we had the best time. Our waitress never rushed us and was genuinely so happy to serve us and enjoyed seeing how much we enjoyed our meal. We certainly will be back to try more items off the menu.

After much indecision, three of us chose the braised short ribs, and one of us picked fried chicken. We all thought the food was great, so these are two good beef or chicken options. The portions were very generous. As someone previously mentioned, the little biscuits were delicious. I think the butter that came with them might have been mixed with honey. So good! We also had the calamari appetizer. I'm not a fan of calamari, but this was very good; tender, not chewy, and I loved the sauce it came in. If you have room for dessert, try the Chocolate Mousse Cake. My son said that it was some of the best chocolate he's ever had, and he's a big-time chocoholic. Our waiter, Gage, was the best. What you would always hope your server would be when you go out for a special dinner. We bombarded him with so many questions about the menu, and so many silly jokes--we were probably a server's worst nightmare. But he was so nice, answered all of our questions and was unfailingly gracious. I hope he's still there if we make it back to Savannah. We certainly will go back to Vic's as it was everyone's favorite.
