Johnson square is one of the 15 or 20 squares down in the historic district of Savannah. The beautiful trees the plants and all the beautiful architecture as you walk along is breathtaking and is a must-see and a must visit when in Savannah

The first square to be laid out in 1733 and the largest of the 22 that remain in existence. A very active park with a lot of history. There is a nice view of City Hall. Although much of the surrounding buildings are relatively new, the park has remained much the same. Also shown are pictures of Christ Church founded in 1733, the first house of worship in the colony of Georgia , and a memorial bench to Johnny Mercer, co-founder of Capital Records. We did a self- guided walking tour of each of Savannah's squares. Each square is different and a great opportunity to learn and see local history as well as historical neighborhoods. Great way to get a feel for and see the city!
