I’ve had 8.2 million people read my reviews, so I know how important it is to be honest, but kind when leaving a review. My wife took me to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. She ordered the maple pecan salmon over collard greens and a side of broccoli. I ordered a New York Strip steak, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. She said her food was delicious, but a little more sauce on the salmon would have taken it over the top. My steak was perfectly cooked - simple , but delicious. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were good. We shared a slice of key lime pie which was about a seven out of ten. Our server was wonderful, although we had to wait quite a while for our pie to arrive, because she thought someone else had brought it to us. I saved the appetizer for last, because it was the most well composed dish out of everything we ate, during the several days we were there. It was a dish of fried green tomatoes, with a Vidalia onion mustard based relish, and what tasted like chipotle sauce, topped with goat cheese and pea shoot sprouts or some type of microgreen. When I tell you that this dish was sooooo good, you best believe me… As many times as I have been to Savannah over the years, this dish ranks in the top five. God willing, I am going back just to get it. I may just have to order two… Go get you some.
Jun 10, 2026 · Google ReviewMy husband & I stopped for lunch on our way back from Florida to Charlotte. We were greeted by a very nice hostess who recommended their fried green tomato sampler as she sat us at a window table with a view of the river. The atmosphere was an historic building you’d look for in Savannah. We then had the pleasure of having Chequita as our server. She made suggestions for both cocktails and entrees. . . and they did not disappoint. My husband started with their signature Chatham Artillery Punch. We then had the shrimp & grits and the pan seared lobster ravioli. Both were delicious. The lobster ravioli was the best I’ve ever tasted. We finished with their peach cobbler which was served hot with vanilla ice cream. Again. . . delicious! Both our meal and service were perfect. Chequita makes you feel like you’re at a table in her home. We will definitely be back on our next drive through.
May 2, 2026 · Google ReviewWe loved the vibe, and the ambiance was cozy with a charming historical touch. Our server recommended the pecan bourbon salmon, and it was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the grouper Oscar, and he loved it as well. The mashed potatoes were some of the best we’ve ever had. Personally, I think this was the best meal I had during our time in Savannah.
Jun 14, 2026 · Google ReviewTo have this as our last dinner in Savannah was disappointing. The meal started off well with crispy, toasty baguette served with a nice whipped butter and delicious blue cheese spread. The wine and cocktail we ordered were also very good. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there. Scallops were overcooked and rubbery, and the bacon part of that dish was just 2 pieces of rubbery bacon thrown on the side. Fried green tomatoes were bland. Mashed potatoes were ok. Oh well. Our waiter was very nice. The ambiance is just ok though. Parking is very tough!
Apr 12, 2026 · Google ReviewWe had a fantastic experience at The River House, and a big part of that was our server, JR. Even on one of their busiest weekends, he provided truly excellent service. He was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Being from Atlanta, you naturally become a bit of a foodie snob because the food scene is so strong there. I wasn’t sure how Savannah would compare—but WOW. This place might be one of Savannah’s best-kept secrets. The food was easily 5-star quality, and the service went above and beyond! I had a blueberry mojito that was incredibly refreshing and delicious. We started with the calamari and fried green tomatoes, and they were so good we immediately knew we were in for a great meal. For my entrée, I had the pecan bourbon salmon with sweet potatoes and collard greens—chef’s kiss. And you absolutely have to get the peach cobbler. It was phenomenal. We’re still talking about it the next day! We will definitely be back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
