Waitress Aubrey was super nice. Food was good. I had a "lite" lunch some oysters, hush puppies (great honey sumac butter) and steamed peel and eat shrimp (buter Cajun sauce), all very tasted I liked that the hush puppies were not over fried on the outside, I call it a light fry ( I had them at another restaurant and they were very crispy hard and a little greasy not these) and these had a soft inside and nice flavor. I love hush puppies and we don't have many options for those in NYC. The shrimp waa spicy the oysters good. All in all a nice lunch. I thought the little dropper bottle for the oysters was a cool presentation.
Apr 9, 2026 · Google ReviewSorry Charlie’s is great! Brian was amazing, great server. They got rid of the different flavored oyster shooters :(. Hopefully those come back one day. The Blue Crab Fettuccine was delicious, I’d get this again. I wish it had a vegetable in it but this was great. The Fried Green Tomatoes were amazing, as well. Crab cakes were okay. James River Oysters were delicious! Better than the other places I tried around here. Definitely better than whatever they had at Fiddlers…
May 25, 2026 · Google ReviewThere’s a neon fish sign on the façade of 116 West Congress Street that’s been a Savannah landmark since 1947 — now designated a historic artifact by the Historic Savannah Foundation. Sorry Charlie’s Oyster Bar lives beneath it, and the whole experience carries that same sense of place: rooted, intentional, and genuinely worth your time. We settled onto the outdoor patio, and before I had a chance to say anything, our hostess caught me glancing toward the table under the heater and quietly moved us there. No fuss, no performance — just the kind of attentiveness you don’t expect and don’t forget. Our server Alesha made the meal. She steered us confidently through the menu, and her recommendations landed. We started with the boiled peanuts — a proper Lowcountry opener — then moved into red snapper and a seafood risotto that was rich and carefully composed without being overwrought. Sorry Charlie’s sources its oysters from Savannah Oyster Company, their own farm just a few miles away, and that same commitment to local sourcing runs through everything on the plate. The building itself — one of the oldest commercial structures in Georgia, overlooking Ellis Square — adds a layer that most restaurants simply can’t manufacture. Sorry Charlie’s isn’t trading on Savannah’s charm so much as it’s actually part of it. Great for couples, groups, or anyone who wants a meal that feels like more than a meal.
May 3, 2026 · Google ReviewGreat location. The oysters were excellent. The other food we had was good. Service was decent. They do have indoor and outdoor seating. If you do enjoy oysters, they have a couple types and the prices are good. especially the happy hour window.
May 17, 2026 · Google ReviewAlthough there was nothing particularly special about the atmosphere of this place, the food and service was definitely worth coming back for. We waited a few minutes to be seated and our waitress Teri (I think that's as close to her name as I can remember) greeted us with a big smile and a warm and patient demeanor. I ordered the firecracker shrimp with the sauce on the side (which is an appetizer) and a side of fries. My husband ordered the catfish po'boy with a side of fries. We got there around 9:45pm which seemed like a fair amount of people dining. We only waited about 15-20 minutes for our food. It came out piping hot. Everything was seasoned to perfection and the fries are made in house.
