It was actually a really good experience. I would say if you are military it's worth it because they give you a nice discount on the entry fee. We spent about and hour and a half but you could do it in less time. It is done in a way I believe kids would enjoy it as well if they have any interest in boats.

Absolutely wonderful museum. The attention to detail on the large models, especially in regards to the rigging, is immaculate. The staff are welcoming and helpful. All in all, a lovely place that also offers a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of downtown.

This was a wonderful museum, incredibly informative and well layed out. It's also inside of the historic Scarborough home which makes for even more learning! It is a self-guided tour through the museum and I love that they have an exhibit about the man who built many of the models. Such fine and intricate work! I read the historical fiction novel Savannah by Eugenia Price in which William Scarborough and his wife Julia are characters and they talk about the building of his house and his investment in the SS Savannah. It's really cool to read about these events and then see the places once you're here! I also recommend Surviving Savannah, a historical fiction story about the Pulaski explosion and then discovery of the sunken ship in 2018.
