This was such a rich trip. We had a guide who was young but so knowledgeable. He claimed to be our groups Alexa and was able to tell us so much history for many different pieces and this building truly showcases a transitional time for the African American history in Savannah. There are also activities for younger children

Jan 11, 2026 · Google ReviewMy visit to the Beach Institute in Savannah was an truly incredible experience, highlighted by an exceptional tour guide. I consider myself a history enthusiast, but I was genuinely astonished by how many new things I learned during my time there. A remarkable 95% of the information shared was entirely fresh to me, revealing aspects of history that are simply not taught elsewhere. I left the institute feeling humbled in the most profound way, yet also enriched and eager to delve deeper. The insights gained were so compelling that I departed with a comprehensive reading list, a testament to the depth and breadth of knowledge imparted. The exhibits were fascinating, particularly the in-depth research and display on jockeys, which shed light on a often-overlooked yet significant part of history. The Beach Institute is far more than just a museum; it's a vital center for African-American arts, history, and cultural preservation. It stands as a testament to the resilience and contributions of a community whose stories deserve to be heard and celebrated. This institution is an absolute must-visit for anyone traveling to Savannah, offering a unique and deeply impactful perspective on American history and culture. It's an experience that will stay with you long after you leave.
