The security was very nice and let me take a rest from walking with my baby today! He let us sit in the shade in the garden and it was beautiful! So peaceful I had a moment of “where am I” .still trying to figure out where I was lol. My baby girl loved the fountain and flowers that completely made our day so special. I’m looking forward to a tour here one day!

Sep 29, 2026 · Google ReviewI visited the Owens-Thomas House and Slave Quarters on Friday, September 25th, on the 2:45 p.m. tour. I ended up being the only person on that tour, and my guide still gave me the full experience as if it were a full group. So I basically got a private tour. It felt very personal and special. My guide was phenomenal. She was descriptive and engaging, and as she walked me through the slave quarters, the courtyard, and the house itself, I truly felt like I was stepping back in time. She pointed out all kinds of details about the architecture, the decor, and even how the house had indoor plumbing 11 years before the White House did, which.. I thought was fascinating. We also talked about the enslaved people who lived and worked there and the kinds of responsibilities that they had. It was eye-opening to learn about the various roles and the relationships that existed within that household. I appreciated that she presented the facts honestly and let me reflect on them for myself. The tour gave me a deeper, fuller understanding of the history than I expected. All in all, this tour is an absolute must for anyone visiting Savannah.
