my husband and I were there last weekend while visiting savannah for our anniversary. the bartender dewayne was an absolute sweetheart, we mentioned we were going to have shrimp and grits somewhere and he told us they had the best and we listened and man we are glad we did! we are born and raised from the south and I must say that may be the best shrimp and grits we’ve both ever had in our lives!!! the friend green tomatoes were also amazingz seeing their menu from when they first opened on the wall to the hospitality made every second in the building amazing. but hands down dewayne was the best! kind soul who made a killer old fashioned. if you’re in the area you must check it out!
Jun 9, 2026 · Google ReviewBoar’s Head Grill & Tavern is exactly the kind of restaurant you hope to discover when visiting Savannah, Georgia. As someone who really appreciates good food, a great atmosphere, and the character that makes a restaurant memorable, I can honestly say this was one of the highlights of our time in Savannah. I started with the bisque, which was absolutely delicious, it was rich, flavorful, and a fantastic way to begin the meal. The salad was also surprisingly excellent, fresh and full of flavor, and a great complement to the main course. For my entrée, I went with the ribeye steak with asparagus and a baked potato, and it did not disappoint. The ribeye was cooked beautifully and had the kind of satisfying flavor and tenderness you expect from a properly prepared steak. The asparagus and baked potato were excellent accompaniments and rounded out the meal perfectly. And of course, no Savannah dining experience would be complete without a good drink. The Long Island Iced Tea was very well done and paired wonderfully with the meal. Beyond the food, what really makes Boar’s Head Grill & Tavern special is the atmosphere and sense of history. There is something uniquely Savannah about sitting down for a meal in a place with so much character, particularly along the waterfront. The historic setting gives the restaurant an atmosphere that you simply cannot replicate at a modern chain or a generic steakhouse. It feels like part of the Savannah experience itself. The service was attentive and welcoming, which only added to an already excellent meal. There’s a reason this restaurant consistently receives praise for its food, service, and historic atmosphere. Overall, Boar’s Head Grill & Tavern was an outstanding dining experience. From the bisque and fresh salad to the perfectly satisfying ribeye, classic sides, and excellent cocktail, everything came together beautifully. If you're visiting Savannah and want a restaurant that combines great food, Southern hospitality, historic character, and a memorable atmosphere, I would absolutely recommend Boar’s Head Grill & Tavern. Five stars without hesitation. A fantastic Savannah experience from start to finish!
Aug 8, 2026 · Google ReviewGreat historic place with a great variety of good food. Nice old tavern and with a sense of coziness is great spot to come. We had the crab bisque, stake and a crab cake and for dessert a crème burle. The dishes are rich in flavor and very welled served. So don’t think it twice, come and see it for your self. 👍🏼👊🏼
Apr 4, 2026 · Google ReviewStopped in for a drink and appetizers. I tried fried green tomatoes which were really good. My wife had a Savannah Artisan salad and said it was delicious. Our server Chantel was excellent, she bent over backwards to make sure we enjoyed our visit. We got a window seat and got to watch a giant cargo ship go by. My Wife had a Bumbu Punch and it did have some punch! Wish they had more windows but this is a very old brick building with lots of history. Now I’m craving some more of those fried green tomatoes, yum!
Apr 14, 2026 · Google ReviewReally nice spot along the savannah river! I had the Shrimp and Andouille sausage sautéed with sweet red peppers in a Cajun spice butter. Creamy cheddar cheese grits. Had to try a southern dish and it didn't dissapoint!
