We had a really great stay with our two young daughters. We were in the grand suite, two full bathrooms! It was the perfect home base for exploring Savannah. The location was within easy walking distance of all the major sites without being in the hustle of the River district. The neighborhood is safe and elegant, the hotel is gorgeous but clearly an older property. For example, you will lose water pressure when your neighbor turns on their shower. For us though, the location and space for exceed the minor inconvenience of an older building. But what truly made our stay extraordinary was the staff. The valet staff, the bar staff at Proof and Provisions and the front desk staff, everyone, was friendly, helpful and welcoming. True southern hospitality! We highly recommend the DeSoto.
Jul 4, 2026 · Google ReviewMy friend and I stayed here for 3 days this past weekend. I called the week before to ask if the pool would be open. I was told it would be. The lady I spoke with said it was closed the week I had called but it would be back open the week we arrive. It unfortunately was not. They have valet parking. The hotel itself is in the perfect location. You are a 5-10 minute walk from everything. We were given a $23 voucher (each of us) to use in the hotel bar or cafe. We decided to use it in the hotel bar for food. The food was not good. I’m glad it was free! I got the mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce and the pimento cheese with crackers. The mozzarella sticks didn’t have any taste and the marina sauce was bland. The crackers were hard and the pimento cheese was pretty much shredded cheese. We were not a fan of the food at the cafe either. I had an iced vanilla latte one morning and an iced honey bee latte the next morning. They were average. I also had the Madison breakfast sandwich, it was missing something. It needed some sort of sauce or seasoning. Everything was bland. The valet area will store your luggage if you need to check out and have a while before your flight leaves. They valet staff were very friendly. The room itself was clean. The beds were very comfortable. I am very pleased with our room and beds/pillows. We didn’t have a fridge in our room. Not sure if that’s all rooms or just ours. Overall, it is a nice hotel in a great location. I would like to come back again during the summer. All of the staff were very friendly and hopeful. Our only complaints are the food quality and the pool nkt being open. Otherwise it was great!
Jan 19, 2026 · Google ReviewThis hotel was fairly quiet which was good. The people who work there were very friendly and helpful. The in hotel breakfast / coffee area's food selection left a bit to be desired. We did not eat at the hotel's restaurant because we were honestly kinda turned off from the breakfast area and had a feeling the restaurant would be the same. As far as the rooms go, the beds were not bad, the room was not bad, but unless you had a executive suite (we did have that executive suite), the bathroom door opens straight next to the toilet and many of the people we were with had to nearly climb over the toilet to get to the shower. They also said that the towels hang just over the toilet and easily fall into the toilet if you aren't very careful. As far as location goes, no complaints. It was close to a store that was open 24/7 thank goodness because the hotel doesn't really have much of a selection of items to purchase after breakfast hours are over and the breakfast area closes down. There is a small gift shop in the hotel.... but it has no food items and was not open very often. The valet guys were very nice and were careful with our vehicle. They were happy to point us in the right direction when we were out and about. They also gave us recommendations for places to eat.
Feb 19, 2026 · Google ReviewLocation, staff service/politeness, food, all very good. The Hotel itself is a little dated and fraying around the edges a bit but it has it's charms for sure. Location just close enough to the bars and restaurants but away enough to be quiet was good. I would give the above 4 * The pool area certainly can use some sun shading fabric and the pool itself is small and fills up quick. Didn't come for the pool so won't give a value The room I stayed in however was the disappointing part. The TV was mounted crooked on the wall and required me to manually adjust the mounting screws significantly to level it. Why this wasn't done by hotel staff a long time ago is beyond me. Also most of my channels kept losing signal/cutting out and it wasn't until I uncoiled a bunch of the coax cable from behind the tv, did it stop. I heard a member of our group complain about his tv also cutting in/out all weekend Flooring had pieces of laminate broken, which wasn't a big deal, but looks unsightly. Bathroom/shower was fine, and good shower pressure. Decent towels and the hotel branded toiletries were above average. The room hung onto a mildewy smell after showering for several hours and while the hot/humid climate would certainly contribute, along with the ageing infrastructure and probably lack of de-humidifying leads to this, but it's not a pleasant smell. Bed was good, no issues there, but the pillows...man those pillows... Might be the worst I have ever slept on. I could compress the pillows down to less than an inch with my thumb and pointer finger. Zero support for side sleepers, and they won't fluff up no matter what you tried. Woke up with horrible neck pain in the middle of the night. Spent the remainder of my stay turning the pillows on edge in order to get any head/neck support. Needless to say I didn't enjoy a single good night's sleep as a result. Booked an appointment with my chiropractor back home after night 2 because my neck is a mess. My recommendation would be in the case of room 904, is to take every pillow in that room and burn them. They are that bad.
