Kevin WernerIf not the first organized black congregation in the United States, one of them. Sherman delivered the Emancipation Proclamation here and promised 40 acres and a mule that the Federal Govt would not ultimately honor. MLK gave portions of his "I have a dream speech" a Century later and shortly before delivering the same on theall in DC.

Brian LawsonFinally read got to see where GEN Sherman read Special Field Order No 15. Although mules are not mentioned in the orders, they were a main source for the expression "forty acres and a mule."
