This was my first time and it was amazing. I got there around 945am on a Friday and just missed the first round by a couple people. It took about 30 more mins to get in and get a table. The food is all already out and ready as you're sat and you help yourself and pass down. The chicken was good but nowhere close to as great as advertised. It lacked flavor and seasoning and wasn't as crispy as I'd hoped. Mikes Chicken in Dallas is waaaaaaaay better and best I've had and rated one spot behind Mrs Wilkes on yelp. The sides though were all amazing! And the dessert was best banana pudding I've had. It's definitely a bucket list visit.
May 31, 2026 · Google ReviewWhew! What an experience! You walk in, and it feels like grandma's house. I just want to say that the fried chicken is juicy and melts in your mouth. The warm biscuits do the same! Definitely a long wait (1+ hr), but I'd recommend it to try at least once if you're in town and have the time. It's well worth the cash $35 since there's so much to try. My favorite sides were the collards, sweet potatoes, and biscuits. I tried the peach cobbler with the ice cream scoop for dessert. Kinda felt like it was lacking but not terrible. I enjoyed my meal while meeting some new people.
Jun 21, 2026 · Google ReviewIt was my first time. The food and fellowship at the table among was a great experience. The food was excellent & all homemade country food! Well worth standing line to experience this wonderful, mouth watering place to dine for lunch.
Jul 6, 2026 · Google ReviewOpen since 1943 we stopped by Mrs. Wilkes on a Tuesday for lunch. We got in line around 1 pm and were seated at 1:45. You can expect a line everyday as the food and atmosphere is amazing and they are only open 11-2 each day. The dining rooms are on the garden floor of a historic 19th century building. Tables are communal so unless you are a big group you will likely dine with strangers. This added to the fun though as my family an d I met some folks from Michigan and we bonded over our love do the food and travel. In an era of polarization in the country it was nice to have a meal with folks we didn’t know. As for the food—you will be served a lot of it! Bowls and platters full of fried chicken, bbq pulled pork, beef stew, collard greens, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, succotash, fried okra, yams, green beans, macaroni salad, chicken noodle soup, biscuits, cornbread, banana pudding, peach cobbler…and I know I’m forgetting some dishes! My favorites were the pulled pork, fried chicken, and collard greens. The mac and cheese was the weakens link for me but nothing was bad. Overall, the flavors and environment made Mrs. Wilkes a must try for us in Savannah!
Apr 5, 2026 · Google ReviewEnjoyed hearing the history of Mrs. Wilke’s as we waited about 20 minutes in line. 23 southern dishes of all kinds were already waiting for us family style. The fried chicken was delish (a rare splurge). So much food, I left not needing to eat for a week! A southern charm experience!
