Jul 10, 2026 · Google ReviewWhat a GREAT find. I’m so happy I took the time to visit this gem of a museum. It is packed with all sorts of amazing African art from various countries. My docent, Kadence, was very knowledgeable and had interesting stories. They do West African art tours on the hour and Central African tours on the half hour. I love their mission of wanting to educate people and provide context on the wide variety of artifacts - they certainly achieve this. Definitely worth a visit.
May 27, 2026 · Google Review⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (10/5 Stars) Savannah African Art Museum — A Cultural Masterpiece If I could give this place ten stars, a standing ovation, and a drum procession, I absolutely would. My visit to the Savannah African Art Museum was nothing short of transformational. The walk‑through wasn’t just informational—it was a full‑on cultural immersion that felt like stepping into a living archive of African history, artistry, and spirit. And let me be very clear: Ari deserves ALL his flowers. This man didn’t just guide a tour—he curated an experience. His storytelling, his depth of knowledge, and the way he connects each artifact to its cultural, historical, and spiritual roots is unmatched. You don’t just hear information from Ari—you feel it. He brings the museum to life with a passion that makes you want to stay for another round. Every room, every sculpture, every mask had layers of meaning, and Ari peeled them back with the skill of someone who truly honors the cultures represented. I left with my mind expanded and my curiosity on fire. But let me tell you what I’m already excited for on my next visit: I want to dive even deeper into the Gullah Geechee culture. Savannah is right in the heart of the Lowcountry, and the museum is the perfect place to explore the connections between West African traditions and the living Gullah Geechee heritage that still thrives today. I’m hoping my next walk‑through includes even more stories, artifacts, and insights about this powerful, resilient, and beautifully preserved culture. If you’re thinking about visiting—stop thinking and go. If you’ve already been—go again. And if you get Ari as your guide, just know you’re in for something special.
