Bird Girl statue. An art museum that – I suppose it is all art, but it doesn’t flow cohesively. However, the good part is that if you purchase a ticket from here, you also get entrance into the other associated historic homes and museums. One room are some classical style paintings and reproductions of classic art. Then there is currently an exhibit of basket weaving. Next to a room with other modern art. I think that if it’s collated, it’s collections to be similar that the clientele would probably benefit. I saw many people spend much time in the classic art area and then breeze through the other exhibitions. They do, however, have a room that is entirely dedicated to black artists. That was fun to see!

Apr 30, 2026 · Google ReviewTelfair Academy is absolutely unforgettable. The second you step inside, it feels like you’ve walked straight into a time warp—part historic mansion, part art museum, part hidden Savannah treasure. The building itself is stunning, and every room feels like it has a story waiting in it. My favorite pieces were the ones that made history feel real: an ancient-looking Roman-era urn that felt like it belonged somewhere around the biblical world, the dramatic battle paintings, and several works that looked so familiar I swear I’ve seen them in textbooks. It is the kind of museum where you slow down without even meaning to because there is so much detail to take in. And of course, seeing Bird Girl in person was a highlight. She has this quiet, iconic presence that feels perfectly Savannah—mysterious, elegant, and a little haunting in the best way. This is a must-visit if you love history, architecture, classical art, or just places with a real soul. One of the most memorable museum experiences in Savannah.
Jun 23, 2026 · Google ReviewAnother great art museum — has some pretty amazing famous older pieces that really pair well with the more modern work at the other center. A good range from classical to 20th century, and some contemporary work in other mediums. They also do a good job of contextualizing the role of slavery and race in the artwork and construction of Savannah, I think.
