As snowbirds escaping the brutal cold and snow of the Northeast, we were thrilled just to see grass again—let alone play golf! Bacon Park, with its classic Donald Ross design, was a treat, in spite of the course being a little dry and the grass dormant (what can we expect? It *is* winter, after all, even in the south), we enjoyed several fun and challenging rounds. The layout has a nice variety of holes with plenty of sand and water features to keep things interesting. The course flows nicely, often under a canopy of massive live oaks dripping with Spanish moss—pure Savannah charm. We also loved spotting the local wildlife: deer, turtles, and a wonderful array of birds—osprey, Carolina wrens, bluebirds, ibises, blue jays, mockingbirds, and even an American kestrel! The staff was friendly enough and fellow golfers were friendly and welcoming. The electric carts were another highlight, especially with the built-in GPS screens—such a nice modern touch. A couple of small gripes, just for honesty’s sake: * The carts can be overly “bossy,” constantly beeping and warning you to stay on the path—or else! (We learned the hard way that reversing is the trick to freedom.) * The greens were rough, REALLY rough... think “teenager with acne” rough. Reading putts was more a matter of faith than skill. Still, we adapted and had a blast. Bottom line: A fun and friendly course full of Southern character. We’d absolutely play Bacon Park again.
Feb 21, 2026 · Google ReviewPlayed Bacon Park with a friend this week because my golf club was closed for aeration and other improvements. I had heard Bacon had gotten much better as a course the past few years. That is very true. The fairways were in excellent shape as were the greens. After a few average holes to start out the course gets nicer as you go. Great back nine. It’s a classic Donald Ross design and presents a good challenge. I walked it and tracked nearly 8 miles. For a public course it was a great experience for only $28! Amazing value. I hope the course continues to build on all the improvements it has made the past few years. It’s a great option for golfers seeking a nice course at a great price. Savannah deserves it. Congrats to the current management and grounds keeping team. You’re doing a great job for the residents of Savannah and people who visit our great city. Keep it up! We appreciate it.
Jun 12, 2026 · Google ReviewGood place for golfing. Affordable rates 35 for 9 holes with a cart. $60 for 18 with a cart. They offer Afternoon, military, and Senior discounts. There is plenty of shade along the route.
Jun 9, 2026 · Google ReviewJust want to give a shout out to Jimmy, Cathy, Nico and Bren for their hospitality while we were down there for my son’s graduation. Their service was top notch unlike my golf game the two days I played the course. Beautiful course that is wide open. Definitely a great course for the novice who plays 1-2 times a month. But again, the people working were top notch. Make sure you bring plenty of water and/or snacks because the front 9 does not end at the clubhouse and there is no drink cart coming around.
Jun 2, 2026 · Google Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A hidden gem in Savannah — a slice of heaven on the greens! Bacon Park Golf Course is one of the most beautiful and special places in Savannah. The setting is truly stunning — with majestic live oaks draped in Spanish moss that sway gently overhead as you make your way along the course. It’s not just a golf course — it’s a sanctuary. The sounds of birds filling the air throughout the day lift your spirits and remind you how close to nature you are. The course itself is impeccably maintained — from the pristine fairways to the sparkling greens. Every corner feels loved and cared for. The staff here is incredibly friendly and welcoming — they make you feel like family from the moment you arrive. But what makes Bacon Park extra special is the neighborhood that surrounds it. It’s full of history, charm, and Southern hospitality. I live off the 11th hole, and this place has become my forever home. I love watching my brother and sister gear up to play when they visit — it’s one of our special family traditions. Whether you’re a golfer or just want to experience a peaceful escape, this course is worth the visit. You’ll fall in love with it — just like I have. Highly, highly recommended! — Antthony Mark Hankins
