JeanThe most authentique Haitian Art! As a Haitian myself, I can confidently say that the Alix Baptiste Gallery holds some of the best, most vibrant Haitian art I have seen outside of Miami and Haiti. His signature colors and joyful, detailed market scenes immediately transport you. The emotional connection here is profound, especially knowing the artist is from Cap-Haïtien the same city my parents and grandparents proudly called home. It was an honor to meet the artist, whose work I was amazed to see years ago in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Though I couldn't swing an bigger original piece, I was thrilled to pick up a beautiful smaller piece for $400, which is still a cherished piece of his artistry. If you are visiting Savannah, this gallery is a must-stop. The gallery is located right near the Haitian Monument in Franklin Square; make it a point to see both and honor the connection between these two locations. A phenomenal experience!
