We have stayed at the Admiral’s Inn several times and have been coming to Tybee Island for the last twenty years, but the most recent stay was not our most pleasant one. The good points: 1. It is a great location and within walking distance (one block and less) to several restaurants and to the beach. 2. There are several nice staff members who don’t mind answering questions or offering suggestions. 3. The beds are pretty firm (which may not be great for everyone but work well for us). The bad points: 1. One rude staff member can ruin a business. Everyone has them, but having someone right up front to greet customers who have been traveling all day and are probably worn out is not the best business move. (There is always one, but everyone else was fantastic.) 2. There is no place to hang wet towels/clothes, and the hotel does not offer pool towels to guests. There is no place at the hotel to do laundry, so drying towels is also a no-go. 3. The water pressure is not fabulous, but that seems to be true of most places on the beach. 4. You have to ask for your room to be cleaned or it will not happen. Unfortunately, they do not let you know that up front. 5. There is no form of breakfast (continental or otherwise) but they do have vending machines. The biggest complaint we had overall this particular trip was concerning the cleaning. I took our trash out daily myself, and I took dirty towels to the desk and got new linens. At no point was this offered. I also swept the lobby bathroom after we came back from the beach and got sand in the floor so that we didn’t leave behind a mess. (I went to the desk and asked for a broom and dustpan as they are not available otherwise.) Then when we got home we discovered we were charged $70 for excessive trash clean up. We had placed all of our remaining trash prior to leaving in two garbage bags (there is no place to put these and we were checking out) and placed them together and then we placed all of the dirty towels in the tub so they did not have to gather them all and despite all of the cleaning work we did, we were still charged a fee. Vacations should feel like a vacation from the work you do at home, so definitely not a five star stay this go round..but also not the worst place we have ever stayed.

The room is great. Staff is great. The pool is amazing and everything around the pool (chairs, tables, loungers) are in good condition. Everything you need or want is within walking distance: beach, food, shops, ice cream and bars. An added treat is the water bottle/tumbler water filling station in the lobby. Secure door locks. There’s a safe in the room if you need it.

No elevator and the room was clean but some of the outlets did not work, microwave handle broke and out behide TV hanging out of wall. The bed was not as comfortable as I would like. But I would come back again. The staff was nice, good location, walking distance from all restaurants and downtown area.

We had never visited Tybee before, and the Admiral's Inn was the perfect starting place. The beach is within easy walking distance, as are a multitude of breakfast spots, bars and restaurants. Our room was nicely furnished (GREAT MATTRESSES!) with good water pressure, and the cleaning staff was wonderful. Of particular value was the assistance of Cecilia, who gave us fantastic advice on places to eat and things to do. After getting to know us a little bit, she gave us directions to the perfect spot to watch Tybee Island's justifiably famous sunset that isn't listed in any of the brochures. Her kindness alone made this a wonderful vacation experience.

First impressions really make a difference. Front desk woman, not pleasant... at all. Some days are just that way but when guests come in excited for vacation, maybe fake it. Room clean but needs some updates. (Toilet seat loose, rust on lamps, headboards in rough shape) The walk to beach is perfect!
