Castaways in Savannah’s Sandfly neighborhood doesn’t announce itself loudly — it sits quietly in a strip mall on Skidaway Road, easy to drive past if you’re not looking. But walk in, get seated, and that first impression dissolves fast. This place has soul, and the food backs it up. Our server Morgan set the tone immediately. Attentive without hovering, she had a read on the table from the jump — salt, pepper, and hot sauce appeared before we thought to ask, and her recommendations turned out to be the highlights of the meal. That kind of intuitive service is rare. We started with the lobster nachos, which were more substantial than the word “appetizer” implies — genuinely filling for two people, stacked and satisfying. The crab cakes followed, and they were something else: well-seasoned, not overwrought, with a clean sweetness from the crab that didn’t need to hide behind filler. The key lime aioli on the side was a smart touch. For mains, the seafood scampi was the kind of dish that earns a restaurant a return visit — rich, balanced, and confident. But the redfish was the moment of the meal. The butter, the seasoning, the way it all came together — it landed with a quiet authority that you don’t forget. Executive Chef Kirk Blaine clearly knows what he’s doing with Lowcountry flavors, and that dish showed it. We finished with key lime pie, which was the right call. Tart, cool, and not overly sweet — a proper ending. Castaways works for just about any occasion: a relaxed dinner with someone you want to impress, a long meal with family, or just a solo splurge on something genuinely good. If you’re in Savannah and you haven’t been, make the detour. Morgan will take care of you.
May 4, 2026 · Google ReviewTried Castaways with my daughter for the first time and loved it! The food was cooked perfectly and the flavor was amazing! We wanted to try the wings, but weren't sure about sauce so he made them for us dry. They had a perfect crisp outside with tender juicy meat on the inside. The seasoning was not like other places and was delicious. My daughter ordered the burger and fries and raved about it the rest of the day. Those fries could become an addiction. I had the teriyaki steak and even though I asked for well done, it was still tender and juicy. The mashed potatoes were thick and creamy and the shrimp was perfection. I will definitely be back!!
Mar 15, 2026 · Google ReviewI've been here many times for a girls night out and had the sandwiches. Last night I brought my husband here for his first time on a date night. OMG everything was fabulous. We had the Hot Lobster and Shrimp dip as a starter. It was hard not to eat it all because we didnt want to be full before our main course. My husband got the Key West Rockfish. I couldnt taste the fish, since I dont eat fish but the topping on it and mashed potatoes under it was yummy. I had the Lobster, shrimp and scallops scampi and it also was delicious! For dessert we shared a Cuban coffee Tiramisu. We got to meet the chef and owner Kirk Blaine and we let him know just how much we enjoyed the service and food.
Mar 26, 2026 · Google ReviewThe food was amazing. Google maps took us to the back of the restaurant, not the front, finally found it between"loc's chicken and waffles" and "the 5 spot". It's tucked away in the back. Nice patio area and inside dining and bar as well. My husband said his black and blue steak was the best steak he's ever had. The veggies with it delicious too. My daughter and I got pasta. Mine was a carbonara sauce with crab and scallops. So delicious! The sauce was full of crab. My daughter had the shrimp lobster and scallop scampi and she loved it too. I don't think anything on the menu was bad. It was a little pricy, around $30 each, but it was worth more than we paid.
Feb 28, 2026 · Google ReviewCome to the area every year for a couple of months during the winter. This is our fifth year and we so look forward to coming here every year. Glad it hasn't changed! Well, the food that is. The new renovations look awesome! If you're anywhere near here you need to check it out. This is where you go to find out what delicious taste like.
